Post the Hospice number and other critical info in a readily accessible location foreasy communication.
Remove carpets or ensure they are secured to the floor to avoid tripping.
Secure the medications provided to you by Hospice. These medications should notbe left out in the open.
Consider using a Lock Box for Opioid medications.
Use cotton sheets and cotton clothing to prevent static electricity/sparks.
Place night lights, proper lighting, and accessible flashlights.
No open flames (candles, stove, heater with pilot lights) within 10 feet of the patient.
Be aware of having pets that may cause injury/falls.
Secure guns and firearms.
Check bathroom safety, such as having non-skid mats, hand rails, and a comfortablebathroom seat. Also set the water temperature to the lowest comfortable heat toavoid burns.
